As Creative Director / Director, you will oversee the vision and development of engaging, short-form and long-form BookClub branded content. We are looking for a highly-creative, well-rounded individual who can generate great ideas and create brand-building content that inspires engagement.

Creative direction is critical to the BookClub platform. At this early stage you will have the ability to shape BookClub’s video style and create engaging, high-quality and genuine content that represents the BookClub brand. You must possess strong visual storytelling skills, creative writing skills and the ability to develop video content that adds value to the reader experience.

What you’ll do:

•      Comfort with sharing thoughts and ideas with candor and good intent

•      Experienced with production for an early-stage company or product, and can demonstrate comfort with ambiguity

•      Seek out critique and are capable of gathering ideas or feedback from a wide stakeholder audience and synthesizing it in a consistent way

•      Identify genre-specific strategies for video content development

•      Formulate the content structure for all video formats

•      Direct and engage authors and moderators on set

•      Provide on-set direction to production crew

•      Collaborate with cinematographers, designers, producers and others to create engaging video content

•      Structure the post-production flow for freelance editors to easily maneuver

•      Polish the video edits to be sure all branding is unified

•      Refine BookClub’s video content as the organization evolves

What it takes:

•      You’re a life-long learner who is always seeking to challenge and expand your skills

•      You have high emotional intelligence and are comfortable sharing your thoughts and ideas with candor and good intent

•      You have experience with production for an early-stage company or product, and can demonstrate comfort with ambiguity

•      You seek out critique and are capable of gathering ideas or feedback from a wide stakeholder audience and synthesizing it in a consistent way

•      You balance research-based experience work and high-quality, modern visual design and can demonstrate that through previous work

•      You have at least 3 years of in-house, or 5 years of total experience as a creative director for video production

•      You love to read and build community and knowledge through that experience
